Graduation from high school is an event which comes only once in a lifetime. Your parents, relatives, friends and, most importantly, you deserve a graduation ceremony that will be dignified and memorable. Your cooperation is essential.
Senior Breakfast and Awards: May 16th from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Formal business attire is required. You will be permitted to leave for lunch and return to the athletic building by 12:00 p.m. for some senior only events.
Commencement: Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. We will meet in the middle school gymnasium at 6:45 p.m. where Mr. Fackler will assist you in lining up properly for the ceremony. If rain is in the forecast we will meet at the high school with ladies meeting in room 213 and gentlemen in room 201.
To Be Eligible for Graduation: A student must have satisfactorily completed all the requirements of the State of Ohio and the Kenton Board of Education; must leave no unsettled debts to the school, and must abide by the guidelines established for appearance at graduation. Students who lack the credits to graduate or who have not passed all of the OGT tests, may not participate in the ceremony.
Cap and Gown: Caps and gowns have been distributed as they arrived in the office. You will need to hang them up to let the wrinkles fall out. Remember, you have purchased the cap, gown and tassel, so they are yours to keep. If you have not ordered your cap and gown or do not plan to participate in graduation, please contact the high school office immediately. Cords and tassels will be given out at graduation practice. National Honor Society members receive gold cords. Students with a 3.75 GPA or above will receive a gold tassel, and students with a 3.50 to 3.74 GPA receive a black tassel.
Attire: Gentlemen are to wear black or dark slacks and black or dark shoes and socks. No Tennis Shoes. White shirt and tie. Ladies are to wear white or light colored dresses and white shoes. No corsages are permitted. Tassels are on the left until the ceremony concludes. You may not alter your cap or gown.
Graduation Practice: Wednesday, May 24th at 1:30 p.m. in the high school gym. All Senior’s must attend this rehearsal. Inform employers now of this date and time. We will be done no later than 3 p.m.
Fees: Must be paid prior to May 26th at 3:00 p.m. or you will not receive your diploma. Diplomas and transcripts will be withheld, if fees are not paid, in accordance with Ohio Revised Code 3313.642. Cash or money orders only.
Commencement Tickets: In the event that inclement weather dictates that Commencement is held in the high school gym, the seniors will be given only ten (10) tickets when they come to graduation practice. The location of Commencement will be announced on WKTN by 4:00 PM if the weather is threatening. We plan to televise commencement live over Channel 6 if it is in the gymnasium.
