The four main goals for Kenton SADD are:
- Help eliminate the drunk driver and save lives.
- Alert high school students to the dangers of drinking and driving.
- Conduct community alcohol awareness programs.
- Organize programs to help students who have concerns about alcohol.
An important part of the sadd program is the SADD contracts under which students and parents promise to contact each other for assistance in a possible dwi situation. This contract is not intended to condone drinking among teenagers. It is a tool to discourage them from driving under the influence or being a passenger of a drunk driver. SADD has also developed a team of students who go into the elementary schools to teach the younger students about alcohol and drugs.
SADD Mission Statement:
This message is one of caring-not judging-inclusion-not exclusion. Our philosophy is one of empowerment and responsibility. We care not only for the members of S.A.D.D. but for our friends, family, schools, and communities. There is no such thing as responsible illegal drinking.
